My first year of doing a course in graphic design, this name came up immediately. Soon as you type in in Google famous graphic designers he is either the first or one of the few that is up there. And I feel I have a slight connection to his work because of the way it is represented.
I have dyslexia, and I believe some of his work represents that condition visually. I.e. always misconstrued, believing that he just makes the type unreadable for no apparent reason because that is has particular style. As I have grown and my knowledge of design, I have understood that it has a purpose, it’s not just scrambled about for no apparent reason and I think I have used that kind of technique and my work for no apparent reason and I believe loses interest to the viewer if it doesn’t have a particular strong concept behind the work.
So the madness of the design that he creates has a strong concept behind it, so if you are an early designer don’t misconstrued legibility for communication.
